Solid Waste Collection

The Town of Indian Trail provides trash collection every Friday. Recyclables and yard waste are collected on the same day but on opposite weeks. One week, you will pull your trash and recycling to the curb. The next week, you will pull your trash and yard waste to the curb. Please refer to the Solid Waste Calendar below for your pick-up schedule as well as holidays that will cause a one-day delay in service.

February 2026 Bulk & E-waste Pick-up

Curbside Bulk and E-waste pick up will occur Feb.13. Items will be picked up on your regular recycling day during that time.

Please Note:

Toilets: The bowl and the seat must be separated from the back portion.
Large boxes should be broken down and recycled in your blue recycling. These are not accepted as bulk pick up.
NO loose items, such as trash, clothing, or children's small toys
Bulk does NOT mean extra bags of trash.
Bulk items should be placed at least 3 feet from your roll carts to prevent service interference with the automated collection trucks.
Do not place bulk items on top of your roll carts.

To ensure that all residents receive fair and efficient service, we kindly ask that each household limit the number of bulk items set out for bulk pickup to just a few per scheduled bulk collection. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep the process smooth for everyone.

You can set items at the curb three days before your bulk pick-up day. Please call us at 704-821-5401 within 48 hours of not receiving bulk service so we can send a driver back promptly to pick up your items.

Guidelines for Collection
Please follow these guidelines for efficient curbside collection:

All bags must fit inside Town of Indian Trail authorized roll-out garbage carts
Collections are made between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.
Garbage and Recycling carts should be positioned at the curb with wheels and handle away from the street
Leave at least 3 feet between the carts.
Household hazardous waste is not allowed for disposal
Please place carts at least 3 feet from obstacles
Residential trash/garbage must be placed in tied bags and placed in beige cart
Residents are issued one beige roll-out garbage cart and one blue recycle cart per household
Additional trash carts are provided at an additional cost

Curbside Bulk Collection
Curbside Bulk Collection occurs 4 times per year - in February, May, August and November.
